Dr visit today (15 w 1d)

Summary of below... went to doctor and everything was fine except for a little infection that I have medicine for.

**Warning may be TMI (To much information)**

So yesterday I had a pain in my abdomen when I went to turn over in bed but it went away pretty quick. Later that day I had some blood when I went to the bathroom but it was only that one time. I called the doctor and they scheduled me to come in today instead of my appointment I had scheduled for next Monday. After I got home I pulled out the dopplor and found the baby's heartbeat so I knew the baby was alright. I actually got a reading to come up for the first time which had the baby's heartbeat just over 150 bpm.

So today we went and first thing the nurse did was check for the heartbeat and it was there, good and strong. She didn't tell me how fast it was but she did point out when there was a kick while she checked it. This nurse, Patty, is great. She was so wonderful after I had Brinley and I was happy to have her today. She did tell me I could come by anytime I was nervous or having a bad day to hear the heartbeat. This made me cry a little because she was the first person to tell me this. I probably won't since I can listen from home but it was nice to know I could walk in and ask for her at anytime. I love that nurse!

So she checked everything out on me and said it was all good. Nothing to worry about. I had to meet with the doctor so the could check me out down there because of the bleeding. The doctor said my cervix was longer and thick which is supposed to be good but she was concerned about some irritation she could see so she checked that out. Turns out I have a yeast infection which is pretty common during pregnancy so I have some medicine I have to take.

**End of warning**

I have been really emotional the last couple of weeks. Crying at almost everything, commercials, nothing to wear, and the way the sun is shining or nothing at all. I hate feeling like I have to cry and not knowing why.

My other symptoms have subsided so I'm feeling much better and not as tired.

My next appointment is scheduled for the 28th with the 3D ultrasound people then another month for my doctor appointment.

This week the baby's eyelids are still fused shut but he/she should be able to detect light if I shine a flashlight at my tummy.

14 weeks 5 days

So as I sit here hungry yet again I figured I would write a little update about how I've been feeling. I have officially made it out of the 1st trimester! Yay, go me!! The nausea is finally gone, mostly... I'm not feeling as tired and I can tell my belly is getting bigger.

Oddly enough I have been craving pickles and eating them a lot. I even gave the ice cream and pickles combo a try and it wasn't so bad. I haven't been able to eat steak or pork ribs so far. Mark cooked them both over the last week and a half but just the smell of them made me sick. Last time I was pregnant I couldn't eat chicken but this time I think that is the only meat I can eat.

My doctor visits are still a month apart and I'm wishing they would schedule me for every two weeks.I like having the heart Doppler at home because it helps me get through between appointments. I don't use it everyday and it is still hard to find the heartbeat sometimes but it helps calm my nerves when I do find it.My next doctor appointment is next Monday the 23rd first thing in the morning so I'm starting to get anxious.

I have an appointment setup for the 28th to get a 3d ultrasound done for gender determination. I will be 16 weeks and 3 days along when I go which sounds a little early to be able to tell but they seem to think that they can tell that early so that is when I'm going. I can't wait to find out what I'm having. I will post pictures when I get them.

As for my weight gain, I think I have been doing pretty good there. I am only supposed to gain < 15 lbs this whole pregnancy since I am overweight, technically obese, and so far I don't think I've gained anything. I think I have even lost a couple of pounds, probably from not eating because I sure haven't been exercising. I do plan to start working out I just have to convince my legs to get up and do it. lol

Anyway not much else to report except that I finished this last semester of school with 3 As and a B! I'm glad that semester is over and I am getting ready to begin the summer semester later this week. I will be taking two classes over the summer so hopefully it will fly by quickly.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Mother to two + 1

Today is Mother's Day. As I sit here writing this I am a mother to an angel, Brinley Nicole Moore, and to the life that is growing inside of me, Little Bird. I am also a step-mother to my husband's daughter who lives with us. Four years ago I became a step-mother and although I have been helping to raise her I haven't really felt like a mother or felt that I deserved to be told Happy Mother's Day simply because of this. Then last year I was pregnant with Brinley over Mother's Day so I considered that my first official Mother's Day. This year I am without my baby and am pregnant once again. It is a little strange to know that I should have an eight month old here with me today but all I have are empty arms. I look forward to the day I finally get to hold my baby.

So anyway I didn't intend for this post to go down the Brinley road but the fact is that Brinley and Little Bird are connected and so from time to time the two blogs will merge. I have so much love for both Brinley and for the life growing inside of me. I want to go hear Little Bird's heartbeat today but am afraid to listen to it today in case it isn't there it would ruin this special day so I will wait till tomorrow.

Last year I had found out the sex of Brinley just before Mother's Day. I won't find out the sex of Little Bird until May 28th. I have an appointment with the 3D imaging place for a gender verification. So I'm posting a poll to see what everyone thinks this baby will be... go post your vote on the side bar!

Happy Mother's Day!

11 Weeks 5 Days checkup

Well last Monday was my monthly checkup at the doctor's. My husband has been coming with me to my appointments so far but today he said he wasn't going to be able to make it so I asked my friend from work to go. My appointment was at 2:15 and about 1:30 I had a missed call from my husband so I called him back and he said he could make it after all. I was very glad he was able to come since I like for him to be at all of the appointments for support.

Shortly after I arrived they called me back and had me pee in a cup as usual. She then checked my weight, 200 lbs, and my blood pressure, 116/20, I think I can't really remember but it was good. After asking me the general questions she told me that all of my blood tests came back fine so there was nothing to be concerned about. She asked if I was interested in getting a blood test done that may or may not show some problem with the baby. Basically you take the blood test and the results are either positive or negative for something but that doesn't mean that the baby does or doesn't have that something wrong with them. I figured it would just cause me more stress and not really be useful in any way so I decided not to do it.

After I was done talking with the nurse I went to the office where Mark was and we hung out until the nurse came in to try and listen to the heartbeat. As I was only 11 weeks and 5 days I knew it was possible to hear it but there was still a chance we might not be able to hear it. The nurse had a hard time finding the HB so after what seemed like a long time I expected her to say maybe next time but she got another nurse to come in and try. This nurse came in and found it right away. Little bird's HB was 160 again. Yay!

After the nurses left we waited for the doctor to show up. This time I met with Dr. Washington who is the same doctor that delivered Brinley. She is a very nice lady and she has somewhat of an accent so it is hard to understand her sometimes but I like her. When she came in she said, "Wow that was fast!". We spoke with her for a little while about how things were going with the pregnancy and any concerns that she may have. She said that instead of when I get to 30 weeks we will wait until I'm 34 weeks to have me come in for the non-stress tests every week. She also said when I reached 39 weeks and if everything was still looking good with the baby that we may go ahead and induce me so that means I would have the baby the week of Nov 2nd - 8th. I'm almost hoping to have my baby on Halloween!

Now that I am 12 weeks I tried the home Doppler the other day and couldn't find the HB but Mark came in and found it almost immediately but we weren't able to get a reading of how strong it was on the Doppler.

So everything is looking good with this pregnancy so far! Nothing to worry about from the blood work I've had done and the baby's HB is still looking good.

“Hope” is the Thing with Feathers

For my english class I have to find a poem to write a paper on. I found this poem by Emily Dickinson titled "Hope" is the Thing with Feathers. I chose this poem because my "Hope" is this baby which I have lovingly referred to as little birdie. The storm in the poem is my Brinley love who came and went so quickly in my life. For me Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in my soul. I will be posting my paper here after I get it written.

Enjoy!

“Hope” is the thing with feathers

By Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

Also I will be posting my paper here after I get it written.

For Real

I've been sick all week so it has taken me 4 days to get this posted. There is something about being pregnant that tells germs it is time to make a home in my body. This is the second time I've been sick since finding out I was pregnant just 4 weeks ago. Sneezing, coughing, stuffy/runny nose, and an ear infection have been my companions this week. I'm ready to kick them out!

I went to the doctor last Tuesday to get an ultrasound done since I was absolutely sure I wasn't eleven weeks pregnant when I went to the doctor the week before. Turns out I was right. The ultrasound of little birdie showed a strong heartbeat of 160 bpm and the forming of a head and body. We got to see he/she move a little while doing the u/s. It is so weird to see something moving around inside of you when you can't feel it.

So it turns out that I was 8 weeks 6 days pregnant when I went on Tuesday. That makes my new due date November 9, 2011. So here is our little birds first picture!

The tech thought she would be funny and make it look like twins with the picture below. :-D

So according to the technician everything looked good but I won't know more until I talk with the doctor. My next doctor appointment is on April 25th. I hate that I have to wait a month between each appointment right now. It is so loooonnnnnggg to wait.

The only thing that concerns me about the visit with the technician was that she got a shot of a cyst on my right ovary. It is probably nothing to worry about but I can't help but worry. My sister had a cyst burst on her when she was 17 and I know it caused her a lot of pain. Other than that I feel much better now that I know the baby is doing fine.

Keeping my fingers crossed til the end.

Heart moniter

A wonderful friend had a home heart rate monitor that she has let me borrow. It is still too early for me to hear a heartbeat of little birdie. Not sure if this is the correct model but this is what the monitor looks like.

She also gave me what was left of her gel but it wasn't much so my dad and step-mother bought me some more.

A LOT MORE!

I can't wait till I can use it and hear that little bump, bump, bump. A big thanks to my dad and step-mom for sending me a life's supply of ultrasound gel. :-) And a big thanks to my great friend April for lending me a little peace of mind during this pregnancy.

I love you all!
